March 26, 2013: SpaceX’s Dragon spacecraft safely splashed down in the Pacific Ocean today, concluding the second of twelve cargo missions to the International Space Station (ISS) that Dragon will fly as part of the Commercial Resupply Services (CRS) contract with NASA. Odyssey engineers supported from the Johnson Space Center Mission Control Complex as release and departure from ISS went smoothly early Tuesday morning. Re-entry followed a few hours later, with successful splashdown occurring on time at 16:34 GMT. Odyssey’s role in Dragon development was extensive, including Dragon Guidance Navigation and Control (GN&C) and System Engineering design support, as well as Independent Verification and Validation of all safety critical software.
